An article about learning from the Master.

Life is a School of Learning. Every moment, an opportunity to become better.
We learn and master various skills/subjects in life from our childhood, similarly we need to master Life. Mastering Life is to create thoughts and actions that are pure & selfless. This Mastery begins first with the understanding who we really are and strengthen that “Real Entity” within us.
The mastery of how to talk, how to eat, what to eat, when to eat, how to take bath, how to treat others are mostly taught by teachers at school and parents.

But the Art of Living is a different ball game.
Life encompasses our Thoughts & Actions, that emanate from Mind & Body and the Purity and Integrity of these. This Art is rarely taught in schools and families these days.
This education of Mind and Body is infact the most important of all the educations that we receive. Perfection of our thought and action needs to be the essence of the journey of life.

We all know from our childhood, when we go to a Master/Teacher, we learn, do home work, fix any mistakes and again go back to the Master with better skill.
Master verifies what we learnt, and slowly progresses us to next levels. This applies to any area of knowledge. Similarly Parents at home nurture an infant by providing opportunity to learn and upgrading the child to different levels of complexities.
A child learns, falls, learns and grows.

In a similar manner, when we go to a Master who guides us in Life, who helps us lead life with Pure thoughts and actions, we need to get better in our outlook towards life every time.
As mentioned in previous articles, a Few are Masters/Yogis like Sunita Bapooji who can teach by cleansing us, By cleansing she is not only absorbing and eliminating our sub conscious dirt in form of clutters of thought and illness of body, but also teaching us pure ways of living life.
We cannot just go to such Masters to get rid of the impurities that we accumulated in Mind and Body and come back to the world and keep resorting the same old habits of impure thoughts and actions.
Master cannot be a “garbage can” to dump all the stress/sub conscious baggage that we carry. Healing masters like Sunita naturally absorb the clutters that we carry in life.
Sunita does not make any special effort or use any technique to absorb our Mental agitations/fluctuations. She is born with the healing pure energy.
So it becomes our responsibility to grow better, become purer and aware of our own thoughts, behavior and actions every time we go to such Masters with healing power.
Our mission should be to purify ourselves rather than using Master to unload all our stress.

For sure, We all go to Masters like Sunita to heal from simple daily stress to complex diseases, But what is healing?
Healing is cleansing of all the dirt and impurities in our Mind and Body. It is refinement of our Mind and Body. Infact the process of healing is more difficult than teaching a 4 yr old.
Because a 4 yr old has very little conditioned behaviour and attitudes, whereas we adults have accumulated tons of dirt in form of judgements, attitudes and Ego.
A 4yr old works with Innocence and we grown ups work with Ignorance.
So when we go to a Master like Sunita, she is doing double the work. First get rid off all the dirt from our sub-conscious system and also teaching us better ways of life so that we do not get dirty again.
Healing is a process of elimination of Ignorance and allowing us to revisit the Innocence in us.
I remember a line that Sunita often says “I am making you into a pure white cloth. Do not add stains to that again”. But most of us again repeat the old behaviour and make our cloth of life dirty.

Learning happens only when we surrender, Without surrender to the teacher there is no knowledge transfer. Learning is a continuous process of Listening, Practise and Assimilation.
In this evolutionary process, we need to get better every day, learn from mistakes, and eventually Master the craft.
The student needs to always come to Master with a conviction that he is presenting the best to the teacher from what was taught in every visit and ready to become better by showing constant and consistent progress.
The most common hurdle that comes along the way in learning is “Ego”, the delusive entity in us that does not want to learn, that believes that it already knows everything.
This Ego is the biggest blockage for learning, let it be learning Violin, Piano or Computers. This Ego comes into play even more with the matters of Mind, because it involves a total shift in the thought process.
As adults we do not like to take this U turn, we want to feel that we already know everything and keep sticking to old habits.
I remember my Acting school teacher, Mr.Coburn used to say
“Before entering the class room, drop your Mind in the bucket I left outside the class and then enter the room”. By that he meant to drop the feeling of “I” because that is a greatest impediment to learning.

Many students speak externally the words of praises and adulations, but a Master expects none of these or any gifts.
A Master’s focus is Purification of a Student’s Mind and Body and preparing the student to elegantly handle the challenges of Life.
Master’s goal is to see constant positive progress in a student.
Master gets gratified only when the student succeeds in the mission they have begun with.

When I went back to my teachers who taught me in the Primary school after 30 years I have seen their eyes filled with joy and fulfillment.
Their expectation from me was not great gifts or words of flattery, but just to see me succeed in education, career, character building and Life.

An ideal student to a Master is one who surrenders the Soul/Spirit/Atman. Without this everything else is a mere drama and the results are equally fake.
“Atman Samarpan” is the greatest gift a student can give a Master. And the greatest Masters like Sunita Bapooji are the ones who expect nothing.

Power of a Master

We see so many saints, preachers, master, Gurus in the world who are contributing their own little wisdom or power of transformation to the humanity for better of human thought.
We treat some as ordinary mortals, some as Gurus, some has Demi-Gods, and some as Super Gods.
All these experiences and manifestations are from within our own mind depending on how we perceive their grace, wisdom and experience the Knowledge and energy transferred by them.

Many a time, people also tend to ask, If there are so many great Gurus in the world, then why do we still see so much crime and injustice in the world. Can’t these Masters magically transform the world?
If they are so Powerful, why can’t they influence everyone in the humanity.

Well, to begin with, the Truly Humble Master never claims that he can change anything, The true Master is always contemplated in changing within. The true Master is always engaged in Self Realisation.
The beauty of this process is that as the Master is deeply engrossed in the Inside, the Purification of the Inner self is automatically influencing the people around.
The grace and glow emanating from the Master permeates the space around and influences the humanity around, just like fragrance of a flower spreading in its surrounding.
The true Master never declares that he can wipe out the filth in the humanity. A real master is constantly living in the moment bearing the burden of humanity around, burden of our selfish, mean thoughts and actions.
A master may heal, perform tricks, and may be aware of actions and thoughts of humanity, with the divine power of universal consiousness. Those powers are only manifestations of their innate ability to connect to the source of creation, the Cosmic energy.
When we watch one of those miracles we draw our own conclusions, either run after them or call them Magicians, use different names, whichever appeals to our own heart.
These names and interpretations are personal and based on our own experiences. The Master never asks us to create them into DemiGods or Gods.
It is our own inner consciousness that makes these judgements based on our experiences of their ability to bring out the inherent power within us.

A Master can heal or peform miraculous change only when we are ready to open and recieve. A true master never claims that they are Gods or Demi-Gods.
The real master can help us drop our baggages, selfishness, greed and all other pains that we carry.
The master is creating a channel by digging through the dirt that we have accumulated in form of subconscious clutters and eventually creating a clear conduit that can recieve the cosmic energy into our inner real self.
The true Master is creating a bridge between our Individual Self to the Pure Supreme Self. This process involves cleansing of the dirt in our Mind and Body and slowly creating a path for us to recieve the Cosmic energy, and finally illuminating the Inner Self.

So how in the world, can these Masters change the world in its entirety. They can and cannot. They can if we are open to recieve the guidance, drop our Ego and baggages of selfishness. They cannot if we continue to live in the skeptic & selfish mind filled with Ego.
A true master is Pure in Thought and Action. Such a master suffers through the pain of humanity, as the master is working through the pains of people around by carrying the baggage of actions that we accumulate in form of Karma over a period of many births.
Such was the grace of some great saints who walked on this earth like Jesus, Ramakrishna Pramahansa, Shirdi Sai baba, Mohammed and many more.

None of these great masters went around propagating that they can change the world. The change happened around them because of the power of their Pure thought.
People were drawn towards these great masters because of their innate ability to help and care.
They have only appealed to humanity to be good & do good.
It is our own ignorance of interpreting the message in a twisted manner.

There is an Indian saint (Annamayya) who was very deeply influenced by the divine energy and has written thousands of songs, poems and bhajans in the praise of the divinity.
One of his poems starts like this:
“Entha Maathramuna evvaru thalachina antha maathrame neevu”.
It translates to “How ever you imagine and interpret the divinity, that much is the manifestation of divinity.”
Our interpretation of the power of divinity could be as small as a dot and as huge as the Universe itself.
So it is our own imagination that allows us to see the dvinity in the smallest and the greatest.

A real Master is waiting to reach anyone who is interested, to open up, grow and elevate to higher levels in thoughts and actions.
Such a master is never selfish and always wants to take the student to a better state than him/herself.
If we knock the door, the Master is always ready to walk into our hearts to Purify us.

In my own experiences, I have seen all of the above qualities of a Guru in Sunita Bapooji.
It was a journey of transformation for me in the past 4 years to cross my own inner enemies to see the power of a real master.
On this day of Guru Poornima, my salutations to the divine guru, Sunita Bapooji who helped and guided me in the path of Self realisation.

Yoga chittha vritthi nirodhaha
Yoga is the cessation of the fluctuations of the mind

On this auspicious occasion of Mothers day it is with infinite bliss I wish all the Mothers in the world Peace, Joy and Love in all aspects of their lives.

Mother is a divine force of creation on Earth. Mother is a
representation of the energy of all forms from bearing, rearing and nurturing the life. As a Mother myself, I feel honoured to have been given an opportunity to share my thoughts with you all.

As we all know Yoga is the Union of Mind and Body. It is state of Bliss where Mind is calm and still. One Saint, Vinoba Bhave, from India used to have lot of discussions about Karma (Action), Jnana (Knowledge) and Bhakti (Devotion) Yogas. He always wondered why people could not make all these forms of Yoga part of their life. Karma Yoga – The Yoga of Action, which means to perform duties without any expectation of results and develops a level of detachment and in a way that gives us infinite peace. Jnana Yoga is the way of attaining that Bliss by using Knowledge as a weapon to fight and clean the impurities and wavering of mind. Bhakti Yoga is a way of attaining the peace by developing devotion to the Supreme Force or God and completely surrender all the thoughts and actions to that Pure Energy.

So Vinoba Bhave spent a lot of time trying to find this person who would make all these forms of Yoga, a way of life. One day the light dawned upon him and he was in extreme joy that he found the answer. He declared and announced “It is the Mother who practices all forms of Yoga”.

The Mother cooks for the children with an unselfish attitude – this is Karma Yoga— performing her duties with no expectations for herself – Yoga of Action. She sees that the food is cooked with proper nutrition and taste – this is Jnana Yoga – Yoga of Knowledge. She feeds her children with unconditional love with utmost devotion – this is Bhakti Yoga – Yoga of Devotion.

This story I heard from my father who was my first Guru. My mother was uneducated but she was innocent and Pure, without realizing she had been practicing these three forms of Yoga all her life.

But in the modern world we are forgetting the essence of these ancient approaches to life. We are caught in the rat race of life forgetting the pure energy that is present in every single person. If a woman has been gifted to create a new life within, can you imagine the potential a woman has within? Unfortunately we cover the Pure Energy by the emotions of Jealousy, Selfishness, Greed, Possessiveness and Anger, creating Hell on Earth.

Many realizations from my childhood have resulted in the birth of ‘Sookshma Yoga and Meditation’. I believe that 90% of the human suffering is because of Self-Inflicted pain. Sookshma tools are ‘Purity and Bliss’. Benefits you will gain in the long run are cumulative and the life will progressively undergo a miraculous transformation. Slowly but surely you will know what Joy really means. Everything is possible with Sookshma. Sookshma has the power to influence not just you, but generations to come for hundreds of years. Ask yourself this question: Am I really Happy? Am I really peaceful every moment? Please give yourself an honest answer. From your answer you decide what is important for life. There is something I would like to say before I conclude. Postures and Breathing exercises are only part of Yoga, they are not the complete system of Yoga. Eternal Bliss can be experienced only with Purity of thought.

Namaste.

As a child I remember that I was always worried about my Tummy. As I grew into my teens I realized that I had extreme sensitivity in my tummy and I always had to watch out what and how much I eat. I left home for college and was exposed to all kinds of foods that damaged my Tummy more. I was known for my ill health during my University days. The only cure was a family doctors prescription of antacid, Imodium or Rantac each coming with its own side effects.

Life came with its own challenges of education, career and relationships all of which aggravated my system and lead into a mild form of ‘Piles’ in 2006.

Frankly the whole Gastro Intestinal tract was a Mess from top to bottom and with these extremities from Diarrhea to Constipation and Abdominal Pain all classic symptoms of ‘Irritable Bowl Syndrome’ (IBS). These things also naturally pulled me down in life in terms of self confidence and inner strength.

This is when I met Sunita in Vancouver when I came for a short stay of 3 months. I went for my Sookshma Yoga class loaded with mindful of doubts, skepticism if this will work. Also coming from a strong Medical science and Research background, I was used to rationalizing the problems and was looking for evidence and quick results. Within 3 weeks of my Sookshma sessions of Sunita, I could see a dramatic change in my life. I remember Sunita asking me to start eating Regular rolled Oats and I was very hesitant as I knew my stomach is very sensitive. Sunita also suggested me to have lemon juice with honey and other ingredients which I would normally not even think of having. With all the doubts, I started to follow her nutritional guidance. She added short grain brown rice to this menu and you can see my plight. But day by day, I could see my tummy getting stronger and healthier. No need to run to the bathroom multiple times, no need to worry about going to toilet every time I leave home.

My system is so darn perfect that I could never ever have imagined this and I am sure my friends from school and college would be shocked to see my healthy Gastro Intestinal Tract.

As things started changing Physically I realized that Sunita is not just another
meditation and yoga teacher, but some one who can instantly heal people with her pure vibrations. In fact my background in medical science helped me to understand how she is curing all kinds of problems. She is aiming at cleaning our subconscious system. We do not realize how much we accumulate and carry in our minds in form of judgments. These thoughts create loads of stress and start to impact different parts of body.

I remember my first consultation with her “I am totally fine Sunita. The only problem is my Tummy”. Now I realize how foolish I was. But Sunita never questions or commands. She is always smiling and listening and allowing us to open up. She encourages any kind of questions. She in fact says that if we do not open up and keep the doubts inside it is not going to help anyone.

Slowly I started seeing a glow in my face, I could see myself in the photographs spanning over 3 months how my overall presence is lot more pleasant and relaxed. In her presence I see that my voice changes, my smile is different and my confidence spikes into the sky. Emotionally I became more aware between Positive and Negative thoughts. There is will power to fight the enemies inside.

All my dreams of film making, to be an Entrepreneur and be able to inspire people in a positive way, started to come true. There is lot of space available in the head for creative pursuits and more love and compassion in the heart to share and care, because in every meditation with her empathy she is absorbing all the
accumulations I that had in my mind.

In this process she showed me “who I really am”. There is no need for me to Act for the world, play the Ego game for sustaining in the rat race. I am my true self which is Pure and peaceful. She helped me detach from the past, not worry about the future and live in this moment. I read many self help books before I met Sunita. What they did was just add piles of intellectual understanding about life. But Sunita showed me the ‘Power of Now’. She gave the experience of Bliss that is written in all ancient scriptures. I used to practice Yoga and meditation at some other centers before I met Sunita. But with one meditation of Sunita, there was no looking back. She made me realize Meditation should become a way of life, not just closing the eyes and sitting for 30 min and crazily carrying the monkey mind for rest of the day.

Sunita is not just a healer; she is Pure Love and Bliss. I came for one problem, but there is a complete turn around in all aspects of my life. Today I feel that ‘Sky is not the Limit’.

In this Journey I came to know that every physical manifestation of disease has its root in the subconscious mind. Modern Medical science is doing wonders in many ways, but in some ways failing to reach the root causes of life styles disease like IBS, Crohn’s, Diabetes, Arthritis, Colitis, Hypertension, Anxiety, Depression and many more.

As the flight landed in Vancouver on April 14th, I brought with me a stomach full of pain and turmoil. As I walked out of the airport with a dawning age of 65, feeling weak and vulnerable with a stomach that put my life on a rollercoaster ride for 40 years, my son comforted me that it will all be fine. This gave me a glimmer of hope that Sookshma Meditation and Sunita Bapooji may show me some relief with Irritable Bowl Syndrome that was diagnosed 20 years back. I went to doctors and they confirmed that it is IBS as they saw traces of ulcers in Endoscopy. I took medicines for 2 months, it cured me for sometime, but it was not permanent. After a gap, this problem again recurred.

I always coped with my weak Gastro Intestinal system, with frequent outbursts of pain, acidity, gas and frequent diarrhea.

“I started to understand that this is more than regular yoga and meditation.”

In first 2 sessions of Sookshma meditation, Sunita taught me some subtle yoga and breathing exercises and she personally trained and guided me with my inner observation and meditation. It is not just simply lying or sitting, but also concentrating on the each and every aspect of my body and finally vacating the mind without any thoughts for about 30-45 min. I have been meditating for the past 20 years, but Sunita’s Sookshma is different. I realized Meditation is not about closing the eyes and sitting, but at the end one needs to feel rejuvenated and energized like I felt here with Sunita

After 4 sessions I again got severe pain in stomach 2 times and she told me that this is the elimination phase where the toxins that are accumulated in the system are being purged naturally. I started to understand that this is more than regular yoga and meditation. So after 2 weeks, I found the stomach pain has totally disappeared. I feel the strength in my stomach. Sunita also suggested some dietary changes. Instead of polished white rice I started to use only the short grain brown rice with more vegetables and with not too much oil and fried food. Now I am comfortable eating brown rice and not finding any difficulty. There is no fluctuation in my digestive system any more.

Also because of the exercises and meditation, the other body pains and all the knee joint pains are gone. Previously after midnight the sleep used to get disturbed many times because of stomach pain in spite of taking Restyl sleeping pills, since many years. I stopped taking these pills and I am getting very peaceful deep sleep at least 5-6 hrs without any disturbance. Even I used to have leg pain when I used to go for long walks. But here when I go for walks, that pain is not there any more. Mind is very calm, cool and quite. There are no worries at all. I feel more jubilant, very comfortable and joyful.

“I have been meditating for the past 20 years, but Sunita’s Sookshma is
different. “

Sunita is very open, deeply connects, understands the problem and patiently listens. She never insists that one should strictly follow the exercises. She gives clear explanation exercises and the benefits in a very subtle way. She is very humble and doesn’t show authority that other teachers usually have. She made me feel that I am part of the family with her compassion. She has all qualities of a Yoga guru. I am leaving this beautiful city and a divine guru like Sunita with more vigour and rigour in life. I yearn to come back soon.
